the drink southern comfort is a little expensive is there a cheaper option

Buy some cheap rye or bourbon whiskey (3 Flying Feathers, or 10 Mad Hatters or something) and add maple syrup (to taste).

Remember to shake well before serving.

Jack Daniels doesn't taste like Southern Comfort but asda do a spirit called Deep South which is similar at £10 a bottle.

A distiller-rectifier in Boston (Blanchards) made one 40 years ago but it went out of business. It's copy was not too good. The Southern Comfort recipe is a carefully guarded trade secret, like Coke.

dont know if you have it but jameson is a pretty nice whiskey (it's irish btw).
wild turkey is also pretty cheap but that's a bourbon.
