If she is your grandma, she probably thinks of the two of you as being alot closer than you may realize. She probably wants to know what's going on with you. Believe it or not, she was your age at one time, so once you open up a little bit about yourself to her, you may have a very interesting conversation. I bet you have crossed her mind more times than you can imagine. You could ask her about what her life was like at the age your at now. I bet she could tell you some great stories. She would enjoy remaniscing. Her first name is not important. Ask her if you want to know, but say "Hey Grandma" because that is what she wants to hear from you. Everybody else in her life has always called her by that name. Her grandchildren are the only ones she gets to hear call her "grandma". I still love to hear "mom" from my son. It's special. I get what you mean about wanting to know her name. I'm just trying to express to you how special she feels to get to be your grandma.
Enjoy the visit, get to know her, then try to keep in touch as best you can.
Good Luck!

Be sweet, sympathetic and kind, as you would be to any stranger in a difficult situation. You are there to be cheerful and you can do that even with a stranger. Talk to her about everyday things, keep topics to things that are pleasant, perhaps this is an opportunity for you to get to know her...ask her about herself, tell her about you...it is never too late to mend a relationship, however brief it may be. Good luck with your visit, sweetie.

Ask your mom what grandmas name is. Ask around what she liked to do at home or in the home. Write them down on paper and take it with you so you have something to say to her and ask her when there, it is nice of you to visit, depending on how far gone she is you may have more to talk about.

Start out by telling her you are sorry she is sick. Hold her hand and tell her you are feeling shy and don't know what to say. Ask her to ask you a question, and a conversation will begin.
