I am wanting to buy a 2003 Infinti Qx4. I've heard that if i wait until 2007 that the car prices would drop a few thousands. Is that true?

I am currently residing in georgia if that makes a difference.

the price of a car drops every month, so if you wait a few months yes the price will drop, if you wait a year the price will drop even more. however the dealer who has the 2003 qx4 can only sell it so cheap... they can not drop the price simply because its 2007. the vehicle is worth what ever they can get someone to pay.

yes the price will drop
most used dealers have about 4000 markup in used cars priced from 10000-20000.
if you want the car simply negotiate the price you want.

most vehicles to depreciate, but not all, there are some that are in higher demand and/or were produced in lower quantities and so forth and that are actually appreciating in value, trucks tend to hold their value longer and some appreciate and some cars like the caprices and impalas from the '80's and later and such do the same thing, also the oldsmobile auroras and such are way high priced still, even the 90's ones, all these different vehicles are still worth many thousands in good shape and without a million miles on them,

it is really random, just like with any other market

i could see maybe a few hundred dollar price difference if you wait til 07, but not a few thousand no unless you bought a wrecked or some other way damaged one

buying a vehicle through a private individual/party is how ot get the best deals on vehicles, try to avoid businesses, most are out there to make a profit and will sell for fair market value rather than private market value

look on the nada and kelley blue book sites for current values of that vehicle

good luck

I would recommend you look for a 2003 Infiniti QX4 with less than 60K miles, so that it still has its original bumper-to-bumper manufacturer warranty in case you find that something needs fixing after you buy it. Sign up with http://www.motobidia.com/index.asp and receive email notifications when a clean QX4 gets listed. Save thousands from buying online and get free shipping.

Typically, price drops every 1/4 of a year on used cars, at least according to used car price publisher KBB.

Price doesn't drop several thousands on used cars. But it does on new cars. When MY2007 arrives, MY2006 is usually discounted thousands because dealers want them off their lots. Just like us, dealers finance their cars too, so it's costing them finance charges and insurance while they sit unsold on the lot. And with manufacturers offering thousands in rebates and incentives, it's easy to get the discounts.

But used car prices remain pretty steady.

A cars value depreciates when someone drives a new car out of the lot 40% of it's value is already gone. Over several months the price comes down.
