We know that the mind can be a very powerful thing. A person can be so passionate about something he believes in, that person can convince himself that he (or she) has had a mystical vision or revelation of some kind. Is it not strange that the only people who have these "visions" or other experiences happen to be also extemely passionate believers in whatever it is they claim as the source of them. Police records are full of reports of people who, before committing a heinous crime against another person, claim that they heard "God" telling them they had to do this.
I have to say that I would be infinitely more intrigued if, for instance, a longtime devout Atheist suddenly came forward and said he'd had a "vision" of God, or Jesus. Now that might really get my attention. It has never happened yet, that I know of.

Lot's of people claim to have visions from some higher power. I have no idea if these really happen or if it is just in their heads. In some cases the person can be moved to do good in the world like Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Other people have visions that tell them to drown their children in the bathtub.

I'm not sure what to think but, frankly, it scares me a bit.

I don't think there's any such thing.

People have "dreams" all the time, even when they're awake. There's nothing at all to indicate that they come from "god" -- even people who have never believed in god ever have dreams.

Dreams and daydreams are your mind's way of sorting through and cataloging data. As the neural connections are being made to store long-term memories, other long-term memories get "activated" as your brain shuffles things around. This mixing of new and old memories can produce some interesting "dreams" combining old and new memories, and these combinations can sometimes lead you to think you've seen something that hasn't happened yet. But it's just memory -- nothing more. Many, many studies have been done that prove conclusively that none of these show "the future" -- they do no better (and often much worse) than chance in predicting the future. They're from your brain chemistry, not from god.

I believe that God does give us signs in different forms such as prophetic dreams, visions, and guidance from the Holy Spirit within us. People who believe and are more open-minded about God and spirituality would be the most receptive to these types of messages.

Visions have a purpose like everything God gives. I move very cautious when someone tells me they had a vision. I know they exist and I know they are abused by many.

Today mass technology and science everyone is trying to disprove religion. It is a good thing "Religion" and keeps people more moral than without or what is called Make me feel good generation Instant gratification anything goes.

Visions: well its taught in sports and many other areas of ones life to "See Your Self" doing what it is before doing which could be a "Vision" as well.

Before I was born again I used to think they were crazy until my very young son started stating scriptures and prophecies from the Bible. Information he retained not from any of us. He claimed to see God. So I checked the Bible and found he was accurate. Visions of God and prophecies are signs for unbelievers. That is what made me turn to God.
