THey remove standard options so the base price matches or slightly beats the competetions. For EX: Saturns Aura has the same base price as the CAmry, but when you add on to the Toyota so it equals the Saturn your car costs thousands more.

It is base on where you live. I think Toyota calls it regions. Options on cars are based on where you live, therefore price varies.

I will give you a real example. I bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla. According to the website, ABS, traction control, VSC, tire pressure monitoring system, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist, all of them are optional.

But if you type the zip code like in Los Angeles, these options are not available. The thing is I live in the Northern California Region, Bay Area Region. I type my zip code where I lived, and what do you know it is available. The reason is the Toyota Factory where the Corolla was made is in Fremont, CA.

With that option, that is the most expensive Corollla.
