Garnier is good for reds - try their 100% Colour range.

I actually mix my own, I buy the colour creme and developing lotion from the hairdressing supply shop (Salon Services). At the moment I'm using Wella Koleston Perfect 7/34 (warm copper gold) with 9% colour developer. You can also get 6% and 12% colour developer for a more subtle or a stronger result. Lasts longer than the store bought stuff too.

I used Nice and Easy for awhile but gave up because it never lasted very long - only about 3 weeks (I wash my hair every day).

I also have dark brown hair & recently died it dark red with Garnier Nutrisse morello cherry. I found it really conditioned my hair & made it more shiny & manageable. My favourite home dye brand by far!!!!!!!

It's better to get it done professionally the first time or you could end up looking like a carrot. Red is difficult to get right. Good luck.

Goldwell color is the greatest...it is a European color and the US has had it for years. Greatest reds I have ever seen they, do not fade.
