Giving firearms advice when you know nothing about them potentially puts others in physical danger.
Giving legal advice when you have no clue what firearms laws actually consist of can get people in trouble with the law.
It is obvious that many answers are given by people who have no clue what firearms laws actually state. Many seem to think that firearms are pretty much illegal to begin with. Others seem to actually believe that guns have a will of their own, and will jump right up and shoot you all by themselves. Broadcasting their own fear of guns may be their right, but doing so in a firearms related forum exposes their ignorance for all to see.
Bad technical knowlege puts others in physical jepordy.
Bad legal knowlege puts others in legal jepordy.
If you don't know - don't answer.
If you just want two points - say, "Hi - thanks for the two points"
and leave it at that.
'Yall agree?

I just answered a question about silencers and automatic weapons stating the same thing you just wrote here! There seems to be a lot of uninformed children on this section who seem to think just because they play Xbox they're suddenly a firearms expert.I don;t claim to be an expert by any means, but I would think after over 30 years of shooting experience i would know a little something about firearms and firearms laws. I'll be the 1st to say "In my opinion" instead of stating my opinion as a fact.If these kids on here would do a little research before spouting off their uninformed ignorant opnions about topics they know nothing about, we'd all be much better off.

Bound's hubby here:

I must agree. One of the things that really rubs me the wrong way with some of the answers is that I see "Wikipedia" cited as a source. I will not even let my students cite Wikipedia. If I see Wikipedia listed in the bibliography, the students lose full credit.

I must also counter this. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how ill informed it is. The comforting thought is when you look at someone's profile you can get a very good feel about which end they're talking out of. I refrain from answering questions I have no clue about. It also skeeves me to see people expecting me to have all the answers. (Why do I feel like 'Dear Abby' at the gunshow?) My answers are based upon 30+ years of personal experience, competition, reading what the gun gurus say and listening to my gunsmith.

Some people just like to be heard and they don't care what people hear. I think we all should take a grain of salt when we take most of what is here as gospel.

Good luck and confirm your facts!

Right on,guys and very timely statements, I'm new here and I've detected this mode of immature answering at the risk of someone getting the wrong answer.I have in over 30 years used a few shot guns , rifles, air guns etc and I am still of the mind that I hardly know the stock from the muzzle technically, especially when I see people like Bounds hubby explain some things,it blows me away. Lol Good stuff guys. Responsible ones like you are needed to keep reminding us.

The young have yet to develop the ability to determine that what they say is an opinion, let alone that what they say is based on limited knowledge.

Research is a foreign concept, as that would mean that you have accepted that you are possible of making mistakes or being wrong. Something that you are not capable of admitting at that age.

The rare individual that is capable of that, nothing is impossible for them.

I agree, It seems as though there are people who know nothing in every category on answers. But as you pointed out. Being wrong in this one may have higher consequences.

Common sense is the rule of the day. But it is becoming less and less common.
