Try a Catholic goods store....Most towns have at least one. I don't think it's unusual, but I do think the majority of Protestant Christian denominations prefer the cross as they see the body of Christ on the Crucifix as worshiping an idol...which is ridiculous. People aren't praying to the crucifix, they are praying to Jesus in heaven...

I can only speak from my own experience: Christians of various denominations always have more in common than divides. The question seems to want to show some tension where there is none.
The "Catholic" denominations, ie Roman, Russian and Greek Orthodox always use the Crucifix, i.e. symbol of the cross with a representation of the suffering Christ. Other Reformed denominations decided to show an empty Cross to emphasis the Risen Christ. Just different sides of a coin.

Crucifix is not the symbol of christanity, It is the symbol of paganism of which exist way back in the time of cain. Remember God mark cain, and this mark is in the form of "X" which is now called the cross.
It is not the cross that matters, but what happen on the cross is more important.
Protestant is also a part of the catholic, they protest in some teaching of the catholic but maintained some of its tradition.
You may have the cross but not Jesus, and you will surely regrets it in the end. Better have Jesus as your Lord and saviour than a cross that will bring you to eternal destructions.
Jesus is the symbol of christianity, If you do not have Jesus in your life you are not a christian.

A Cross is a crucifix of sorts.
Most Christians HAVE a crucifix of some sort. Even though the Bible says, Thou shalt have no Graven Image, the Catholic Church, makes it as thou YOU AREN'T A BELIEVER if you don't HAVE A crucifix of some kind. The FACT about the CRUCIFIX is very simple. The 2nd century, tortured Christians began using the cross, the crucifix, as a secret symble between believers, so they would know who to ask to a service. Jesus Christ, in fact, is a very personal person to everyone who loves Him. In Revealtion 3:20 He tells the CHURCH, and EVERYONE IN it,"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." NIV

The symbols that speak to the heart can be found in any home. A crucifix is a reminder of the greatest Love, and I've seen them in the homes of many different traditions.
They are not that hard to find if you are really serious about locating one.

Yes, they do. They have them in Catholic Supply shops. You can always buy one from a Catholic Church too or just call a Catholic Church and they will tell you where. If you do not want to get into a conversation with them you could just say it is for someone you know which would not be a lie assuming you know yourself.

my mom was southern baptist and she said it was not good to have a crucfix because Jesus is not dead...
BUT! I believe it is good to have a crucifix in the home, bedroom, at the front doot in the kitchen, because it is a reminder of what Jesus did for me when he died on the cross, he loved me that much!
BTW- I am Catholic, Christian ((:
