Firstly, I should say that my company sells ghds (as well as other makes of hair straighteners) so perhaps I am slightly biased. However, what I would say is that we have had loads of people (and I am talking thousands!) write to us unprompted to say how much they love them & what a difference they make to their hair. No other product we sell ever gets even a fraction of the fan mail that ghd does, so irrespective of whether other straighteners might work for you equally as well, ghd's certainly do something sufficiently right for people to take time out of their day to write to us and tell us so.

I suppose the main difference between ghd's and other straighteners is just that ghd's were the first really amazing hair straighteners and if saving money isn't your only issue, then you know that when you buy a pair of ghd's you are guaranteeing yourself a really good pair of hair straighteners.

Hope that helps!

The Cost. Ghd's are good but cost a fortune, my daughter works at a hairdressers and they use ghd's, but have just got a new supply of straighteners come in that are made at the same factory for a fraction of the price, and she says you wouldn't know the difference. If you go on eBay and look up hair straighteners you'll see a range that come from the same factory where ghd's are made, and are so much cheaper, as with a lot of products you are just paying for the name.

RE:
What is the difference between GHD's and normal straighteners?

GHD's have unique technology that means they heat fast and keep to the same temperature constantly. Other brands tend to be like heating systems they heat up and cool then heat again which means inconsistant temperature and results. Also GHD's are fully ceramic, whereas many others are only ceramic coated plates.

The consistancy and quality off GHD's means you can use them much more easily and quickly, and you can create a range of styles, not just dead straight, you can flick, curl, bend etc.

I used to find that with other brands of straighteners I would constantly have to go over the same section several times to get a result, and even then if it rained my hair would frizz.

I would never use another brand now, it's GHD's for me!

GHD's are the best. i am a hairdresser and i have never found any straightner that is as good as a ghd. a ghd is a finer grade of ceramic and the heat is regulated so it doesnt damage the hair as much as any other. it is also ionic meaning its more conditioning on the hair. if you look on the internet you can find them from about £69.

The difference between GHD straighteners and the rest is that they do exactly what it says on the box they actually heat up to the temperature they say they do, they make your hair look as straight and as good as you want it to be. I have used other straighteners with ceramic coating but the surfaces scratch much easier and once this happens when you slide them down your hair all they do is create static and its not a good look. Basically you get what you pay for QUALITY.
