If so; how do you know how much to sacrifice before it becomes enabling?

Love in action is sacrifice, among other things (like trust, honesty, faithfulness, etc.). Love in action is hard - feeling love is easy. But doing for others those things they could do for themselves to the point that they stop doing them and rely on you instead is enabling. It's the difference between caring FOR and caring ABOUT that gets tricky. If your sacrifices are creating a dependency then you are no longer helping the person you love, but are actually crippling them.

Self-sacrifice means giving up some pleasure or going through some trouble or inconvenience for the benefit of another. So i would say yes if you really love someone it requires sacrifice sometimes.

it does require sacrifice, if you think you are enabling a person then you probrably are. enabling is allowing a person to act negatively toward themselves(ie giving them money and you know they are going to buy illegal drugs). so if you are doing that, maybe its best to love from a distance.
