I am a native Spanish speaker, an English teacher and I'm married to an Italian and live in Italy...I love languages but I don't know which one I should try to learn next...I don't really like French or German, even if I know they would be handy since I live in Europe ...I look forward to reading your advice!

how about a language from Asia? you can learn Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, Tagalog, Thai or Japanese just so you'll be better rounded that way.

My first choice would have been to suggest French or German, but since that's out... I've had quite a bit of fun learning Russian, and it might come in handy in Europe as well. Or Greek, since Greece isn't too far from Italy.

It might be interesting to learn Chinese, I've heard that in many Europe schools, they're starting to think about adding Chinese to the curriculum, since it's becoming a more and more important economic force.

Might also want to learn arabic. Could come in handy, with the current events.

I would say French and German as well. I like French. But here are some other options. You could try Dutch or Portuguese. Russian looks like mumbo jumbo to me. They have their own alphabet, but it would be a challenge to learn. Greek would be cool, but once again they have a different alphabet.

Well....hmmmm...how about tackling semetic languages like Arabic? Arabic is beautiful and is quite a challenge and its importance is increasing rapidly everyday. If you need any help, feel free to ask. Good luck.

Goodbye.
Au revoir.
Ciao.
Salam.

You've already got the backing for it, but how about basic Latin? I took that many years ago and it really helps vocabulary, even if it is a dead language. It's the root of many languages so even if you don't speak another language, you know the basic root words to figure it out.

Good luck!

Russian becomes more and more popular. Arabic, hindi, such things - that is useless!
I would recommend Polish, but that is really difficult, such as above mentioned.
What about spanish???
