I've applied for FAFSA before and because both my parents make a bit of cash together, I'm not applicable =[. I'm curious about what else I can do to receive around 3,000$ a semester, using strictly loans. Any ideas? =)

Are you sure you want to use only loans?? How about checking out available scholarships on fastweb.org? Check your school's foundation (they raise $$). Many times they have scholarships available to enrolled students.

The best thing is to try for scholarships from outside sources such as companies and organizations. If it fails, I recommend trying to get some student loans. There are several sources to locate scholarships, but all the scholarships take some time to hear back if you were selected.

First, I recommend going to the public library to check out the scholarship book there. It lists both scholarships on the web but also ones that are not tied to a website.

Second, if you are currently attending high school, the guidance office has a list of scholarships from local organizations and companies for its students to apply for consideration.

Third, check out the college's financial aid website and office because they often list private scholarships from companies and organizations. Sometimes, particular college major websites might list scholarships, too.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search.

Good luck!

Also some colleges have civic engagement based stipend programs. This is a great way to get students active in community and build awareness around issues that effect all.

Americorps is a program that is recognized in my area and all over ask your school. 1,000 hour of community service equals
$1,000 cash towards your college education and you can do this for two years in a row.
