I feel that the most evil acts are commited when someone feels they are doing nothing but pure good. Good and Evil, while they exist within us, are drawn amongst a thousand shades of grey. Even the most vilified psychotic (such as charles manson) felt what he was doing was infact "good". I consider myself to be someone who thinks of what is not only good for me, but others as well. In my opinion to be truly good, is to "catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar". To not do what is right just for "myself" but what is ultimately right for others to. Buddha said "if you do not live for others than you do not live" while I am not a religeous person (lol) I do agree with this statement to some extent. I think being good is having the common sence that you cannot commit good acts on the backs of people. Right now George Bush feels what he is doing is good and so does Osama Binladin, but billions of people disagree with both of them. Even if you ask the biggest creep on the planet if they think they are a good person they will say yes. I believe everyone has good in them and the potential to be good people, truly not just subjectively. So I guess what I am saying is their is subjective goodness and Objective goodness. Objective goodness is goodness in truth because you are able to say "how does this make others feel?" and think in the mindset of how people around you will react to the stimuli you feed them. I try to do what I feel is right. Just like anyone else. However am I a good person? I try not to ask myself that question and just be as I am.

I don't know that I'm a good person, 6 of 10. I would hope that all humans strive for this, but you need only look as far as our prisons to see that this is clearly not the case. I think that people who do bad things can be good people, and probably are, but somewhere along the line they lost their way. Each person's reason for this is varied and unique to that individual, so I have no way to say just what that might be.

In my opinion, and I don't profess to be an expert, a good person has kindness and consideration for others regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, social status.....

A good person considers the good of the many to be more important than the good of the one.

A good person will help you to be your best when things are at their very worst.

A good person lifts you up instead of dragging you down.

A good person backs up their words with deeds, and puts others first.

I am human, and prone to mistakes, just like everyone else. So I would add that a good person will acknowledge their imperfections, and another good person will forgive them.

I try to be good, but, having human failings, I'm not able to be so without fail. Still, I don't believe that it is required of us to be impeccable.

My religion teaches that it's what is in our heart and soul that count, and if our desire is to help our sisters and brothers, then we are moving in the direction that will eventually lead to liberty and truth.

There have been people on this planet that have shown us how to strive toward that perfection and following them will never be without merit.

I live according to the word of God. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior. I share God's word with others so they too can have eternal life in the kingdom of God. Praise the Lord.

But just being a good person and living with out Jesus as your personal savior will not get you into the kingdom of God.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

I am a very bad person "made good" in God's sight through my faith in Jesus Christ. He has given me a "good" heart in that I no longer hold people in contempt, nor do I hate anyone anymore. I am a sinner in need of a Savior, and I respect and love my fellow man as such. It is my hope that we ALL find peace in the eternal Father and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

define Good:

everyone has different expectations of what good is.

For me: when I stop evaluating my motives for actions I am no longer striving to be good
