My Brother in law had me fix a hot rod for him. He never paid me, and is avoiding me, he is also recently divorced from my sister. He has abandoned the car at my house. I want to keep the car or sell it since he owes me $3500 for the work I did. Is there anything I can do in Indiana, I'm lost here.

Could you put a lien on it? You might try asking a mechanic shop what they do when a customer can't pay for the repairs. I'm sure it happens all the time. Good luck.

gather all the info on the car (if you do not have the title) the car must be in your posion for one year so lock it up..
take all the info. and go to where you get plates and apply for a loust tital this will come in the name of your bro. in law... then get your sis ter to (sell, give or trade) as it is the bro. in law needs to pay you for the work so you can put a lean on the tital ect... and just what till he has enought and gives up the car is yours, you did the work and i think he forgot about the car so so......

ask more at the place where you get the plates aboul leans ect....

Good Luck and send me pic of hot rod....
