My kitten loves boiled shrimp. I give him some every other day in small quanaties. Is this bad for his health? I mean his diet is just shrimp, its just a little "sometimes treat."

A small amount of shrimp is fine once in a while if he is not allergic to it. If his nose and mouth start watering excessively, stop giving this treat and make sure you buy cat and kitten food that does not contain any shellfish. Too much shrimp would not be good as it has a high sodium content.

I think a little shrimp is OK. Maybe you are overdoing it a bit. Go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article, "Why Fish is Dangerous for Cats". It is at the end of about sixty articles on cat behavior, health, diet, etc. You might want to modify the frequency of the "treat" after you read the article.

how old is the kitten.. until they are 6 months they should be on a fairly simple diet.. chicken and rice is best...
shrimp is not good for cats - the high calcium in shrimp is a known problem causer for urinary tract problems.
just because they like something doesnt mean its good for them

We treat our cat the same, it simply loves them, shelled of course. We have no trouble giving our cat worming pills or anti-biotics if they are crushed and sprinkled over shrimps or prawns. Our moggy is 14 years old.

Maybe twice a week as a special treat. Shrimp is fine. Will you be my Mommy?

Shrimp is perfectly safe, when cooked, for cats/kittens.

This is perfectly ok for cats. you love him so why not spoil him. but make sure that he eats his regular food too. I have goats and i give mine a little goats milk every once in a while. just don't over feed your kitty

I think it is a bit much every other day. Make it once a week and then it will be a real treat for him.
