I use Garnier Fructis two-in-one and Dove conditioner together. I don't know if it's the weather, but my hair isn't that shiny and really not that "silky smooth".
I have dark brown, thick (5 layers), straight/wavy hair. What brands do you recommend? (Besides Suave--doesn't work with my hair.)
Thanks! :)

Paul Mitchell products are really good. They have a good variety, and you can choose a shampoo/conditioner suited to your hair type. And one reason why your hair is not shiny or smooth may be that is has some build up. Using a clarifying shampoo once in a while helps hair behave well.

Shampoos are pretty much all the same ingredients. Water making up the most part of the solution. What you need to ask is how much you are willing to pay for brand names or unbranded. Remember you are mostly paying for high salaries and advertising on the popular brands.
In blind testing, low-priced drugstore shampoo like Herbal Essences is shown to clean just as well as expensive salon brands. Herbal Essences comes in a variety of formulas, but some experts note that although these formulas are labeled differently, they have nearly identical ingredients, except for some variance in plant extracts, which don't have any effect on hair.

Hi,
As you are already using Garnier shampoo,I would suggest you to use home-made remedies instead of experimenting too many shampoos on your hair,as they contain very harsh chemicals and can also damage hair quality and growth to an unimaginable extent.
For shine-you can try curd with few drops of lemon juice.
OR
Simply lemon can do wonders in maintaining the shine of your hair and in reducing dandruff.
OR
Try mehendi with multani mitti and lemon juice for that extra nourishment for hair.
OR
Almond oil can also be used for the growing hair.
But as you asked about the shampoo brand, let me tell you-Sunsilk(according to your hair type)-lots of varieties available in the market or Pantene are really superb.
But at the end, choice is yours.
Please revert if any one of them works for you.
Moreover,I have hair till my waist and believe me they are really silky, straight and shiny only because of home used remedies.
Bye for now.
Take care.

i would suggest probably a moisturizing shampoo..a salon shampoo..it should add some shine back to your hair..you could also try a smoothing shampoo...go to your local salon and ask what they reccommend for moisturizing or smoothing shampoos...at my salon we sell Matrix products so i would reccomment biolage or Sleek. Look..good luck
