I believe in a compassionate God. Call him what you will according to your faith, or acknowledge him in your own way if you do not choose to be part of an organized religious group.
I believe that Acts speak louder than Words, and that those who strive to live a righteous life of service to others and who practice the golden rule shall be welcomed in to heaven as the Special Children of God.
Although the Christian Bible may say that "No man shall come to me except by the Word" - I believe that that reference is made to Baptism in faith and accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord & Saviour.
I would NOT get caught up in any sort of biblical discussion with anyone on this subject, as everyone will have their own agenda and there own strong beliefs on the subject - which are usually the core of their being - and inviolate. So if you do not agree with their point of view; you will unfortunately either be damned to Hell's eternal fires, or they will never treat you the same way again, (the friendship you once had will be gone forever).
So if this man was a friend in life, remember him, and cherish his memory in Death, Honor him by trying to emulate his philosophy of life: "Do Good & Be an Asset to the Community".
I wish I had known this man, he sounds like a grandfather that I wish I had had but never had the opportunity to know, - his death may very well have been a loss to us all.

Hell is an old wives tell that mothers thought up to control their children safely. Since we men have nothing but our mothers word we have to believe it and pass it on to our own kids for their safety. Sometimes these small white lies get out of hand and turn into religious dogma. Mothers told their sons that the creator was male because males are stronger than females and it seems illogical to fear a female creator. I don't believe in a living god and I do good deeds because It feels good to be of some help, not because I'm trying to get to heaven. Forgive those who mislead you, for they know not what they are doing. Become a Jesus for them when possible. We all can use a Savior sometimes.

People go to Hell because they sin and deserve justice. If you know someone who has never, ever sinned not even in thought
they would go straight to heaven. But excluding Christ and children that were never born, I know of no such person, not even myself. And I think it is safe to say you don't either,
no matter how hard we try, we ALL fail from time to time.
Doing good don't take away your evil. You could behave all your life, and then on your 60th birthday rob a bank, you would still deserve jail.
The Islamic God is different then the Christian God, I know our Holy books have some similarities but your book says that Allah never had a son. My God did. This is an important detail
Christianity hinges around who God's son is.
Since our gods are different either I am sinning when I worship my God or Muslims are when they worship theirs. So one of us are guilty of worshipping another god other than the true God.
Which is a sin in both our faiths.
Jesus doesn't send people to hell we send ourselves to hell when we willingly sin, if we know it is wrong we are expecting judgment.
But Jesus does rescue people from hell by paying our sin debt for us, but only if we seek the one true God. Anyone no matter what deity believing faith they are can ask the ruler of the universe to reveal them self more fully.
If God loved us enough to create a universe for us, he loved us enough to reveal himself, if only in our hearts we truly want to know him.
I think most people believe that hell is the same for everyone but according to the Bible there are different levels of accountability in hell, If you did not know what you are doing wrong you will be judged with a lesser punishment then those people who knew they were doing wrong but did it anyway.

The scripture (Bible) says (Roman 3:23) "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." meaning to say that all people on earth is a sinners. No matter how much good deeds you do in this life, it is meaningless, as the scriptures narrates;
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
As you can see apostlke Paul said, It not the doer of the law that is justified in the sight of God but, but the justified man who is the doer of the law.
Faith without works is nothting, so as also works without faith is dead. (James) becasue even the evil one knows how to give good gifts to thier children.
In order for you to enter the kingdom of God you must have a passport named Jesus and a visa called (faith and works)
Jesus said "I an the way the life and truth no man can come to the Father except by me"
Jesus is the door to the kingdom of heaven. there is no other door for the scripture says "There is no name given under heaven by which a man must be saved" it is only in the name of Jesus.

Are you talking about a Muslim?
If so, then a Muslim is not to be damned in hell.
Allah (SWT) rewards each and every good deed, whether you are a Muslim or not!
For people, who are not Muslims, they will get rewarded in this world for their good deeds.
For Muslims, they will be rewarded here and in the next world.
And a Muslim does not worry about the firmness of his faith because a Muslim is comfortable and at peace with his/her religion, Islam.
Islam has the answers to everything!
Islam guides us in each and every aspect of our lives.
Islam is with us all the time whether we are doing something religious or worldly!
We don't worship Allah (SWT) during only certain times, but we worship Him at all times!

Before Jesus was crucified, and that man lived by God's law, and he died. he would rest in the bosom of Abraham until Jesus returned in the rapture. God's word has been out there for hundreds of years now, and there are countless of missionaries who are spreading God's word out into the most remote places.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Today there are no more excuses.

No.
Rom 2:9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
Rom 2:10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
Rom 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
Rom 2:17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
Rom 2:18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
Rom 2:19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
Rom 2:20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
Rom 2:21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
Rom 2:22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
Rom 2:23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
Rom 2:24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

CBooth's answer show the stupidity of christian teachings. It would be best to be a serial killer and to repent on your death bed and accept jesus just before you die.
No point in doing good all your life.
Hehe if it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

What does the Bible say? At Matt. 7:22, 23,Jesus says, "Many will say to me in that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name. And yet I will confess to them: I never knew you. Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." This shows that the doing of good works is not enough. To have Jehovah's favor, we must do things on his terms, not our own. Doing God's will is the important thing. (Matt. 7:21)
