There's one built into Windows XP. You can dictate and Word will type what you say on the screen. Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Accessibility and have a look around there

I used to have a program called via voice - made by IBM
you have to train it.....spend about 1 hour reading from a prepared script so that it learns your speech patterns...........and even after that it still makes mistakes. I hardly ever used it, it took longer to edit the document than it would have done just to type it out.
that was 4 or 5 years ago.......things may have moved on since then, but I wouldn't recommend it from my experience

There are different software for this purpose but none of them is very useful for two major reasons:
1. Noise
2. Difference of pitch and accent

So, you may hire me. I can type what you speak....lol

Dragon naturally speaking is a good program but also requires training :)

I believe that there is one called 'dragon' but it has to learn the way that you talk to it.
My brother used to use it - but he had to be a bit careful about what he read to it. It would seem to me to be worth a try, though.
