Reason:- it has been confirmed that if I eat modified maize starch, or products with it in, then I am "knocked out" for an hour or more.
Foods with it in are Knorr, but not Colmans mixes, bread from some chain stores esp in France, IE Leclerc, Intermarche but not so far Marche U, many sauces etc.
I am also interested as to if anyone else is suffering from this.
It happens about 20 mins after ingesting, a heavy drowsiness occurs and then sleep, nothing wakes me.
Arousing is like coming out of anasthetic BUT slowly. If it is a heavy dose then lethargy and tiredness bring on real depression.

"Modified" and GM are not interchangeable terms, they mean different things. Maize startch can be modified but not genetically modified!...;

If I understand your question correctly, you are wanting to know if modified maize starch is a gentically modified (GM) food? I would say YES, since it is labeled "modified".

Corn is one of the top GM crops, so all of its by-products (flour, meal, starch, syrup, etc) will be from a GM source.

I would just stay clear of corn, and all things corn, if I were you since it gives you pretty significant symptoms after ingesting it.

maize starch = cornstarch and many food producers use it in a number of products.

If you're sensitive to it, your best bet might be to stick with whole, natural foods so you can be sure of the ingredients.
