What steps are you taking? Maybe you're taking the wrong steps...
I'm a personal trainer... the 2 biggest myths in the industry are:
- high protein diets make you lose fat
- the higher the intensity the better the results

What I'd suggest... record everything that you eat for a week. Then go to http://www.thecaloriecounter.com/

From that work out how many calories everything you eat has. Calories are the energy that you take in, so this will tell you how much energy you take in (find the total).

Now for exercise... write down all of the exercise that you do during the week and then go to http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/jumpsite/calculat.htm and just as you did with your diet calculate how many calories you are using.

If the 2 figures aren't pretty well identical then there's your problem.

On top of this... lets rule out those myths. The composition of your diet should be as follows:

- 50 to 60% carbohydrate
- 13% protein
- <30% fat
- alcohol... not suggested if you want to lose weight and lower your blood pressure.

so work your diet around those guidelines as well. Big point in that one... you don't want lots of protein! It is not used for energy during physical activity so is generally stored as fat (so cut down on the big steaks)... while high protein diets can make people lose weight that is because carbohydrate stores water; so with less carbohydrate you will store less water. This is not to be confused with fat! (So the scales aren't a good measure... get someone to give you an anthropometry test so that you know your correct % body fat).

Oh and for exercise... try to exercise for at least 45 mins a day at around 60% of your maximum effort. Why? Because this intensity of exercise uses fat as the predominant energy source. So does normal walking pace... so also walk everywhere you can because the energy you use adds up!

Hi there
To lose weight, the best thing is to do cardiovascular exercises like biking, jogging, walking at a fast pace...You are supposed to do them on an empty stomach in the morning or in the evening. The reason why we do it on an empty stomach is bcos u dont hav any food in ur body that it needs fuel to get energy for u to do that exercise.. Then, your body resorts to burning the body fat as a fuel. Do cardio for 40-45 mins 6-7 times a week. But, note this that cardio takes 30% and diet takes 70%. So eat 4-5 small meals a day which contains low carbs, high quality protein ( lean read meat such as chicken breast, nuts ( they hav good fats which make u lose bodyfat and good for general health ), beans, turky, tuna ) and lot of vegetables ( dont eat junk food like french fries or McDonal food or stuff ). By eating smaller meals more frequently the metabolism become fast and it help ur body put in an anabolic state which is good for losing fat. And avoid eating sugary food , sweets and the likes. Try to hav less stress ( just try to think that argument or whatever problem is not gonna kill u that you dont really hav to care much, for example). And try to get restful sleep around 7 hrs a day. SO, that is everything u hav to do. You will see the difference in 2-3 mths if u follow them strictly.

truth be told that alcohol , beer is very fattening and it decreases ur testosterone level resulting in estrogen increase which encourage ur body to gather more and more fat. And Fruits !! when losing fat, avoid fruits bcos they contains sugar and stuff which are fattening. Good luck :)

Dont forget to eat nutritious breakfast right after the cardio

If you are taking all the steps of dieting and exercise as you said you are doing then you should see a doctor. There are medical conditions that can cause weight gain. Beside a thyroid condition a bad liver can cause the weight gain and there must be others that I don't know about now.
So see a doctor and good luck.

Ha ! 70kgs on a 5inch frame is definitely obese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get yourself checked for THYROID. It could be that your thyroid glands are not functioning properly. As you are putting on weight despite taking all steps.
