Babylon pictures the world empire of false religion. To be in a saved position, a person must get out of any religious organization that practices false worship.
In the light of the Bible, those in false religion:
Believe that all good people go to heaven.
Teach that hell is a place of burning torment.
Teach the pagan doctrine of the trinity.
Celebrate pagan holidays like Christmas and Easter.
Go to war and slaughter their fellowman.
Venerate pagan symbols like the cross.
Teach the immortality of the human soul.
Permit immoral people to remain in their ranks, like homosexuals and fornicators.

Babylon means pagan Rome.
Pagan Rome is the name given to the government at that time. They ruled the known world. Pontius Pilate was a government official for this pagan government, who crucified Jesus.
1 Peter 5:13 Peter writes from "Babylon" which was a code name for Rome during these days of persecution. See, for example, Rev. 14:8, 16:19, 17:5, 18:2,10,21, which show that "Babylon" meant Rome. Rome was the "great city" of the New Testament period. Because Rome during this age was considered the center of the world, the Lord wanted His Church to be established in Rome.
"After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, 'Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a habitation of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!'" (Revelation 18:1,2).
"And I heard another voice from heaven saying, 'Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities'" (Revelation 18:4,5).
God is going to (and already has) judge the evils (apostasy, immorality) of a system that has been persecuting that Church. We are to "come out" of Babylon by not sharing in her sins, because in our time, we cannot escape Babylon.
We are to be in the world, but not of the world.

Defination of Babylon-bab-oo-lone'
Of Hebrew origin [H894]; Babylon, the capital of Chaldaea (literally or figuratively as a type of tyranny): - Babylon.
Which scripture are you referring to? When you post a question about a specific scripture reference, you need to include that scritpure you are speaking of.
Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
God is calling His people to leave that city and not partake of it's sins. It is self explanitory.

Babylon the Great, means- The world empire of false religion, embracing all religions whose teachings and practises do not conform to the only true God Jehovah. Following the flood of Noah's day, false religion had it beginning at Babel which was later known as Babylon.
At Revelation 18:4says "Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues."
Its telling people to get out of false religion.

"Babylon" is a symbol of ANYTHING that causes people to follow false gods, to do evil in the sight of God or to lead others away from God.
Scripture is using this symbol to warn the faithful, "my people", to stay away from temptation and telling them that temptation can take the form of something wondrous as Babylon the city was truly a wondrous city in its heyday.

Great Babylon is ALL of our organized religions. All of them based on
truth, but having gone their own way according to the wisdoms of men.
Foregoing truth for wealth and prestige. And creating division in the
Body of Christ!
