my doc's not a bad guy I just wasn't into asking him questions that day I get kinda embarrassed or shy when people talk about my weight

to rephrase the doc did try to talk to me I was just to stubborn to listen but yes he could have been a bit more helpful all he told me was eat small meals every three hours I do wish he had been more specific my next appointment is coming up and I am trying to think of some questions to ask more about diets etc. but alot of my blood pressure problem is from asthma medications I am on too so it's what they call a catch 22 (can't win for losing lol) but I would like to hear about more links to Yoga sites I just haven't found any really good one's out there yet......thanks

i wonder why this doctor didn't talk to you about that...?

http://www.mypyramid.gov

since your doctor can't waste his time with you on the very thing he needs to treat you for.... this site is the next best thing.

it's the diet that was discussed in schools.

stress you can resolve with meditation.. exercise and yoga if you wish to look into that. yoga works wonders for most people.

walk walk walk.. ride a bike... breathe properly (meditation will resolve that issue) oxygen does alot to heal the body and help it by the increase of this element.

drink your water...

i like to know.. did this doctor do a blood panel on you?

it bugs me to no end (sorry) why a doctor who is to treat you for ailments doesn't talk to you about how to correct the matter. this happens way too often.

eat right, moderate the garbage.. watch those calories.. watch out for things that increase triglycerides (alcohol, hard candies) and watch your cholesterol (egg yolks, processed foods)

fresh produce is the best.. soy milk is a great alternative (silk is the brand that most can deal with.. you must remember it's not milk.. it's soy and you'll get along with it much better)

fresh fruits.. fresh veggies. steam those veggies.. eat them raw... drink fresh vegetable juices...

watch your salt intake.. watch those sugars.

when eating canned items.. packaged items.. of any type.. make sure the calories are lower and the calories from fat are close to the numbers of the calories in total (meaning if you can of soup has 105 calories that the calories in FAT are either 0 or lesser than the 105 calories that the soup has)

trans fat is a no no...

the best deal is fresh foods.. and read those lables... a jar of apple sauce is better than a jar of peanut butter..... so on.. compare ingrediants.... if the list is long and full of elements that you can't pronounce or the words have more letters in it than the alphabet.. just put it down and move onto the next item ... the more fresh the ingrediants.... the better.

IE: vanilla ice cream.. breyers or turkey hill is better... instead of edys..... (check the ingrediants you'll see what i mean)

juices that aren't from concentrate are better.

grapefruit juice is a plus.. cranberry is a plus.. orange is a plus.

v8 juice? watch for the sodium.. go for the low salt alternatives.

soda? stay away from diet and regular as much as you can.

water!

proper rest... activity is a must.

sweating is a plus! sweat, it's part of the antioxidant routine your body must perform.

green tea.. sure cuts a hole in the blood mud in your system (choleterol and triglycerides)

and get a doctor who will talk to you about these things also.. the more interested and knowledgable the doctor is.. the better.

:D

watch out for diet scams.. stay away from miracle diets or programs.. like jenny craig or weight watchers.. watch out for herbal alternatives... some herbs increase blood pressure.

if you are to take medications for the hypertension then you definately need to stay away from these programs and herbs. you need to know what does what!

the food pyramid is the best because it's no frills.. no promises.. it's just a layout paid by you the tax payer to show you how you can increase minerals.. lose weight.. keep it off and this program is for the rest of your life... it also contains suggestions on a moderate but very effective exercise regiment and tells you all about the 8 glasses of water deal.

it's a slow diet.. but soon as you get caught onto it ... the diet works.. i use it and i'm a malignant hypertensive sufferer.

:D

watch out for glitter! stay with the stuff that is common sense.. even ask the doc or any doctor about the pyramid and exercise.
you don't need to go overboard... just 30 minutes for 3 to 4 days a week is a good start... you don't have to go crazy with exercise in order for it to start benefiting you.

for the meditation.. look that up in google.com it's just about proper breathing through the diaphram technique. it doesn't have to be religious and it doesn't have to be complex.. just learning to do it correctly will be more than enough to increase the way you use your oxygen and that'll push the blood pressure down after a while also. oxygen helps produce proper cell development in the body and can help it heal faster... lower blood pressure and increase the ability to absorb minerals too.

watch out for scams on all these things i talked to you about.

you shouldn't have to pay for a single thing... (other than food at the grocer i mean) there are no devices.. no gimmicks.. no pills (unless the doc prescribes medications for the blood pressure) and no money is to be traded.. (unless you go to the grocer to get it yourself or have to pay for the prescriptions..) meditation is free.. information is free.

and if you are interested... there are yoga specialists in almost every town... look them up online or the yellow pages... proper yoga can do very much for your body.. alot of cases where pain was a real major issue it was relatively decreased or even 'removed' after a few sessions of proper yoga. ( my lower back pain has been practically lanced due to stretching the right way.. no more pain pills! ) but you must maintain the lifestyle for all these things to work properly.

OK now i'm done!

good luck and stay smart!
