I believe that there are healthier alternitives for snacks. Yeah, it sucks and the sweeter stuff sometimes tastes better but many kids are overweight. Most people don't get the vitamins and minerals needed from home. As a college student I wish we had healthier things to eat, especially in the vending machines. Most college students gain 15+ pounds in there first year.

In the long run it would be much better for schools to serve healthier foods.

It is wrong because it is not OUR fault or the rest of the students faults on what the obese kids eat. It's there choice. The other kids who want to have candy and good snacks shouldn't have to suffer because of some of the kids who are obese. My school doesn't even have that many obese kids but our school made a new rule where all candy has to be taken away so our school took down the candy store in our school and replaced it when nutrition bars. I was soo pissed when i found out this year. Im proud to say i'm not obese and it's not like i ALWAYS ate candy, i only bought it once in a while when i had a sugar craving and now i can't even buy any candy cuz of the few obese kids. it's stupid....yet our school still has curly fries (SO FATTENING!), snapples (SO FATTENING TOO), etc. etc. It doesn't make sense to me nor will it ever!!

Schools should certainly serve healthy food! More fruits and less candy. Also regular PE lessons should be provided. A too big proportion of the US is overweight, and it is a serious problem for this country.

Why is it wrong to say that children are fat if they are indeed fat? It's just the state of health they are in. Perhaps overweight is a better choice of words, sure, but the point is that with so many overweight people it should not be taboo to call them what they are, which is overweight. Overweight is also the medical term used, is it offensive to refer to someone using the actual medical term of their condition?

having ''big'' kids is a growing problem. i dont think that second ontrays shouldn't be a choice. snacks well.... our schools snacks are pretty healthy we can get candy but i think that these kids are not awair that they are in controll of what they put in their mouth's the only way kids can stay in shape is if they have the power to say no to things like that.

I disagree with you. My school gives us fruit for snacks, AND we get an 80 minute p.e. class everyother day. Why would be mad if someone is trying to save UR life?

Its not wrong to be saying that, because its true. 90% of public schools dont have manditory gym class, and if they do, its not conducted properly.

48% of all children in this country are overweight. 48%. That means most of your friends are fat.

Schools should feed our children better. But parents should as well.
