What if an emergency (earthquake, terrorist attack...or any other disaster) occurs where you live. So you will not have access to clean water, energy, services. No radio signals, no mobile phones, no food.
Do you have a family plan for it?

Good question: I feel that every home should have fire extinguishers, emergency water, clothing, hand sanitizer, Lysol spray, dried foods, flashlights and batteries, radio(battery operated), clean clothing, and a set of papers they may need.
Blankets and pillows.

No.. I just figure whatever happens, happens.. I know it's a "lazy" way to look at it. But if an emergancy or crisis like that occurs, there is only so much we can do.
We had something like that about 4 years ago, we lost power in Michigan from here to Pennsylvania. It was mid-summer in the high 90's. But we found a place that had ice, so we took a bunch of it home, it melted within hours, but we did have some bottled water and some food that didn't spoil.
We got our power back on in 8 hours, some people had to wait 4 days!
But I figure that God will provide when we are in need, so I don't worry about it too much, He always finds a way to give something to us when we need it most.

Wow! Doc is correct!
There are 5,000 school kids in Biloxi, living in tents, in parking lots, right NOW!
New Orleans is only the Media Favorite "Poster Child"! All who are there now are party folks with lots of resources!
But, The FEMA trailers?
1. Federal laws prohibit trailers on any flood plain.
2. The trailers are available for 18 months AFTER THE START DATE of the DISASTER! So, even if they do get a trailer from the 12,000 stored at Hope Arkansas, or the 15,000 stored at Eglin Aux. Field, Florida, it ENDS on Feb. 27, 2007!!!
Read more at the links... and search http://google.com for 'FEMA Trailers'
Those who are stranded at Biloxi, GulfPort, and all along the Gulf Coast, have no vehicles, no way out. it is the worst of 'somalia' and 'Ethiopia' and the Tsunami, all rolled into one!
The only buildings that really survived untouched were Monolithic Domes, and fuel tanks in New Orleans, and Mobile, all round!

I live in an extremely high hurricane impact area. Yes, we are prepared. We have never waited for the mayor (we don't live in the city), the governor or FEMA to come to our aid. When Ivan hit, we were without power and water for a month and phone service for almost two. Katrina, Rita and several others have tried to do their damage, but we have food water, medical supplies, etc., and chainsaws. Unlike the political wankers in New Orleans (and incidently they were not the hardest hit, just the right ethnicity for the news media) we tend to help our neighbors not rob, murder and rape them -- as happened in New Orleans. Yes, we ARE prepared.

No. I will expect and rely upon the government to save me. Why take personal responsibility when FEMA will protect me? I mean what the flip am I paying taxes for anyway??!!
