Yes, it is. I have read both. "Verses" is a work of fiction that implies the Quaran is not inspired by god, as "Code" implies christianity is not the truth of god. Both fictionalize the duplicity of mankind in distorting the message of god.
Both are marketed as fiction. Both imply humans have distorted god's true message. Both books upset people of those faiths a great deal.

I've never read the Satanic Verses, Mav....I tried years ago but it bored me to tears......but I do remember the controversy surrounding it, and the price put on Salman Rushdie"s head.
For whatever reason, it stirred within Islam the same sort of controversy that The Di Vinci Code (I've read it 3 times) stirred in Christianity.
My personal opinion is that these are works of fiction, and no one should feel that their beliefs are being compromised by such.

The satanic verses is the exact opposite of what the bible teaches. The verses teach to sin all you want to please ones self, the Bible teaches to die to sin and crucify the sinful nature that is in us. People focus on "being happy", without ever considering the consequences of their actions in both the afterlife and this one. The Davinci Code was a well thought out fictional story by a frenchman and if you ever watch Discovery and National Geographic they proved 100% without a doubt that it is by using foresics, science, and good old fashion investigation. Peace

The satanic verses is a book (it is not fiction though) made by the so called founder of the Satanic Church, Anton LaVey. But the term Satanic Verses is really found in Islamic culture. If you want further info pls visit:

It is the Muslim equivalent: that is, a work of fiction purporting to debunk Islam. It's why Salmon Rushdie got himself on the Muslim "hit list". You do NOT blaspheme Allah in that fashion! Muslims are far less tolerant of such than Christians.
Both books are filled with nonsense, "facts" that CANNOT be supported by evidence, and deliberate misinformation about the faiths they are attempting to discredit. Neither is worth reading, so save your money! I wish I hadn't had to. They both leave a bad taste in the soul!

mav has been misinformed. "DaVinci Code" is pure British fantasy. "Satanic Verses" is a real, true expose' of Mohammedanism.
