I love Bath too. But York is very nice too. That place's got so much history that it's hard not to find it alluring. I've been to York so many times but each time I'm there, it never fails to captivate me.

Absolutely agree with you about Bath. - I studied and worked there for seven years. Loved every moment, and still go back there at least once a year to 'recharge the aesthetic appreciation batteries'! It is an exquisite city, with so much history - the Roman baths and ruins, the Abbey with its connections to the first King of all England, the beautiful Georgian architecture, the fact that no matter where you are in the city you can usually see green, attractive hills. The visual; delights of Sham Castle, the Royal Cresent, Pultney Bridge with its row of tiny shops, that hotel by the river with its roof line of cottage, mansion and castle, showing that all classes were welcome... etc., etc..
You've made me feel really nostalgic and I feel a visit to Bath is overdue!

Salisbury has a cathedral with the tallest spire in England. Winchester has lots of history. It was the capital city of England once. There are countless small market towns that have retained their identity: eg Henley-on-Thames, Stamford, Ludlow, Whitby, Kirkby Lonsdale, Kirkby Stephen.

Newcastle, it has the most beautiful street in Britian...Grey St, designed and built by John Dobson and Richard Grainger in the early 1800's.

Oxford! It is simply the most beautiful, well kept, antique, and intellectually rich city in all of the world!

I really like Cambridge. I also love Christchurch on the south coast, but its not the town itself, but the harbor, Stanpit Marsh and other natural places.
