There are now so many that it is difficult to advise without knowing exactly what you want to use it for. Would you be happy with a compact, squinting at the screen without a proper viewfinder? How many pixels do you want? The answer to that may depend on whether you want to print your pics and if so, to what size. What sort of zoom range do you want - but remember to ignore any claims about an extended 'digital zoom' range. Do you want something more fancy - what they call a 'bridge' camera, or even a digital SLR?

The best one is the one that you can afford and do the things you want to do. So, take a moment to relist your question, with a budget in mind, and the things you will be doing with it.

Do you want a SLR or just a point and shoot? Do you want what is referred to as a prosumer - that is one with a fixed lens but normally has a very long zoom lens.

I want a red Motorola RAZR. Sorry I thought you said phone. Lately they are the same. I would choose either Sony or Panasonic.
