I use hair straighteners quite regularly on my hair and a friend has suggested I get it professionally done for a lasting effect.
Any suggestions/comments on this?? good or bad idea and any good salons in the Berkshire area. Thanks

I mean chemically treated rather than just using irons

its a good idea but like a permanant wave or colour it will grow out so you might need your roots doing every 2-3 months.

if you have dyed you hair with a permanant colour or bleach it could really dry your hair out.

it can be expensive. but it is worth paying for if you need it. i would say it depends mainly on the condition of your hair. if its dry dont bother.

I havent gotten it done in a salon but i do know that when i used the at home straightening kit it worked pretty well. the salons are probably better so i would think its a good idea if you dont like to straighten your hair all the time. On the other hand if you wear your hair curly sometimes, it might not work. ive tried to curl my hair after putting the straightening chemicals in and it just wouldnt hold. Well good luck!

Be careful they can damage your hair, I would recommend the X-tenso straightener by L'oreal as it is not as harsh as most. It will cost aroud £50-£70 depending on the length of your locks. And make sure you use a good treatment on you hair once a week afterwards, something like Caviar Treatment by Alterna will do the trick, it is aroung £20 or Super Charged by Paul Mitchell

I had mine straightened chemically and the effect was amazing, but looks odd when it starts to grow out.......it absolutely knackers your hair though so get used to spending a fortune on very good hair conditioners. I understand the Japanese Yuko system (which is hideously expensive) is a much better option if you can afford it.

over-the-counter chemical straighteners are very unsafe on your hair. utilising a specialist iron like the u-comfortable flat iron alongside with specialist hair care products is locate out the thanks to effectively straighten your hair without causing prolonged damage. As an further bonus to no longer dropping your hair, utilising specialist products, like u-comfortable Cream & a million" flat iron can reduce your straightening all the way down to one/2-hour or a lot less.

well if u straighten ur hair regularly then it will be a bad idea.
i used to straighten my hair almost everyday and went to get mine professionally and it damaged my hair badly. then they asked me if i straightened my hair alot and i said yes and they said that was why . so before u go make sure u havent straightened ur hair for exleast two weeks . thats what they told me.
