All great answers..
searching here was not meant to imply that you might have lost yourself..only if you've realized who you are....discovering your true potentials and not rediscovering what you are..

Hey. In a sense I'm still searching.....I find that life is a continuous process of searching and uncovering and dropping.

Through awareness and questioning I'm seeing all the things I'm not, and through awareness and questioning,
erroneous ideas of who I am dissolve like morning dew in the sunlight......

It doesn't feel like a searching though, at least not in a negative sense of the word, like feeling incomplete and searching for some kind of completeness. It feels more like a great discovery or an adventure(sometimes!), or maybe like and unpeeling(like an onion). Neti Neti (not this, not this).

I feel more comfortable in my skin than I ever have....but this sense of searching and uncovering continues, maybe even beyond this life, and I'm cool with that.

Then again, on some days, I'm totally lost and hopeless, feeling like I have no solid ground to stand on, wondering who I am and where I put myself! That's when I just stay in bed all day under the covers.
.

Ps) I've learned much about myself through adversity. Extreme adversity is a true opportunity for finding oneself or at least uncovering many things that would totally surprise and shock. If a person doesn't lose their mind or crack, then adversity is a golden opportunity to learn much.

Nice to be sharing the learning process with you:))

Hey sistah,

For me it's a progressive revelation. I'm not sure what it is meant by "found yourself", bcos then it implies that something is lost which is diffrent from being lost - something i can be more often than not. I am however continually searching for myself, that part of myself that has been buried and forgotten, out of fear or bad experiences.Or that part of myself that hasn't been fully realised yet, whatever it may be. And it's a slow, painful but exciting and adventuruos process at the same time.

Rediscovering yourself would for me would mean i am able to gain strengh after learning of my weak and plus points. I'm not a bold soul so i don't know how to go about it and be absolutely confident with myself most of the time. I suppose searching yourself also implies challenging yourself to get out of your comfort zones and go beyond the into the unknown.

I don't think there's any point in time where we can say we have found ourselves, maybe what it means is the acceptance of ourselves. But life is to be lived, tho i havent taken that advice to heart yet i think it's a simple truth.

Btw; ya answer to my q is awesome

I think we are all still finding out who we are. Just when I think I know what I will or won't stand for, a situation arises that I didn't expect- as generally happens in life. I try to approach difficult situations with a set of ideas, but I have to examine what I'm actually able to do in a situation. And sometimes I think "I didn't realize I was capable of that." or sometimes "I wish I was able to do that, maybe next time." I think that's what personal growth is all about.

Do we ever stop searching for ourselves?

I think I know myself pretty well, but there are parts of me I still find surprising or that I cannot order and deal with.

PS
It's biologically impossible to be aware of 180 degrees all the time, but you can naturally see a bit more with peripheral vision. So much for the worlds smartest man.

Greetings!

I do not believe that by searching you will ever "find yourself". Instead the key is to see. I will give you one simple exercises to perform and please do it the rest of the day.
While standing or walking concentrate on seeing 180 degrees. After a while you will be able to do it.
Then you will view life as it surrounds you. You will then be enveloped in thought.
From that you will see.
In reality you and I and all of us are searching, but not for ourselves.

Good Luck

Only when you hit rock bottom do you find yourself. Nothing exposes your naked soul like adversity, fear, and despair. The "search" is nothing more than vanity. The real question is whether or not you will rise above the desperation of your condition (when the moment comes).

This is a time of rapid change and it seems that new stimuli are hitting your head like a machine gun. You may find that it is time to take a break from this and engage in quiet time that will settle your mind and restore you to the central purpose of your life. Life is our opportunity to experience love but also hate, joy but also sorrow, kindness but also selfishness, mercy but also injustice. You have important work to do during life and important choices to make concerning all of these experiences. Hopefully, you fulfill in your own way the flowering of your own spirit in your own unique way so that you may return to God as a spiritual being that is a wiser, kinder, more loving and in all other ways a closer representation of God who made us in his/her image.

it was three years back when i started searching for who i am,
it was when i was 16 that i realised after giving a simple test that i was not fare to my life, so i started reading books on philosophy.
At first it didn't got me anywhere but as i started realising things parctically i started feeling like i am moving from where i was.
Till few Months back i was reading books on spiritual development, from then i am reading on psychology.

hope i will find or i should say realise my true self.

Know thyself, is the testimony of wise Chilon of Sparta!
I know one: that I know nothing, Socrates proclaimed.
Till now, we see that there are great, wise, rich, knowledgeable people, but all of us, including them, are progressing, in other words, learning more! And, our self is a part of the Universe and the more we learn from the Universe, the more we understand ourselves! The more we learn from ourselves, the more we know about the Universe!
