Have the Mass Air Flow sensor checked. If it is dirty or damaged, it will cause pinging.

I prefer Blueing to Pinking Several thing can cause detonation/ping/Spark knock. One is a bad knock sensor not sending the signal to the Electronic engine control or ECM. Exhaust gas recurclation not working properly EGR. Knock sensor is a microphone that picks up high frquency and tells the ecm to cut timing. EGR adds exhaust gas to cool down combustion. Carbon in the engine will sometime stay alight and precombust the fuel mixture causing Ping too! Try several applications of combustion chamber induction cleaner. And get out and floor the throttle and wind the motor out. You will be amazied at what blows out the exhaust.

Bear in mind that when buying brand new your car will loose a tenth of its value just when being driven out of the showroom. Look for something 6 months or a year old that has lost that big lump of depreciation. The Fiesta is nearer in size to your current car, but do you want more elbow room or are you happy with a car of that class. Go for test drives in both of them and see if you like the feel of one more than the other. As for where to get them from, you know what area you're in. My one big piece of advice is don't get one of Ebay! I bought 4 and scrapped 4 so you'd think I'd have learned by now!

2 girls have $100 to get their mum birthday gift
they go shopping and spend all but $6 on themselves and have nothing for mum's gift
One sees ad for family photo for $6 and so they go to get mum a picture
other girl squirming and scooting about when photographer is trying to take picture
1st girl says to 2nd - quit the squirmin, that man's got's to focus
2nd girl to first - bof us
And that is what Ford did to you when they sold you a focus.
Would help you if I could but here in US I don't know a single person who ever bought a focus after hearing the joke.

You have 2 choices. You can throw parts at it and waste money or you can take it to your local ford dealer and let them fix it right with an up front cost.
