I have just checked and there is a single to Glasgow Central from Preston on the 30th December departing at 07.20 for £9.50.
You can book this via Virgin's website. Or go to your local station.
If you'd prefer to travel at a more reasonable hour there's a single ticket for £14.00 on these services (all direct) :
