if I stopped at a census point ,and I know that I have to stop because apolice officer has waved me in , do I then by law have to tell the census officer where I have come from and where I am going and whether on social or buisseness ,? as i believe we are supposed to have free movement .

THese questions are usually to get you to talk. To see if you have been drinking. You can answer them in a generic terms. Where are you coming from ?
From the store.
WHere are you going to ?
Home.
etc...

Do they ask for ID and record this to connect with the information?

I've found the question are general. Not whats the address where your going who'll be there or crap like that.
The answers are used to determine traffic flow patterns and such most times.

I think you have a bit of a paranoid approach to life.

First what county do you live in, I would expect in Iraq you have to, and most likely in Mexico you would have to.

And in the US Ihave never heard of a "census officer" and I spent almost 15 years in law enforcement.

In the US you have to provide officers at check points, your name, your drivers license, car insurance info. but do not have to tell them what you are doing
