You can call the company to see if they would give you an extension. If they say yes, ask if they will remove any late fees on the account.

If they say there is no extension possible than you will still be delinquent but you show an effort of good faith and willingness to pay down your debt.

Request the customer service representative you speak with put a note on the account regarding your conversation. Be sure to document your conversation by keeping their name, operator # and date.

If there are notes on your account from your telephone discussion they will be advantagous if you need to have discussions with the Senior management at a later date

If you are talking about a contractual obligation - home mortgage for example - many states do not charge a late fee UNLESS 1/2 or more of the payment is later than the grace period.

If you are paying it less than 30 days late - should not create any problems for you. The credit bureau begins reporting late payments at the 30 day point.

Be sure to call the lender & explain what happened! You call them - don't wait for them to call you.

Send in the $1500. Make up the $331.05 as soon as you can, and pray that doesn't happen next month.
