if virgin birth were possible , why do we need IVF treatments.
When so-called God cannot answer one's call for getting pregnant , one turns to science and receives IVF treatments.
My argument is whether you believe God or not , you always have to turn to science to find answers.

virgin birth , in this case, mean no men , no sperms and no sex. Wake up one morning and you just get pregnant and give birth several months later.

It is a medical impossibility.

I am a medical student and a christian. I believe in the virgin birth.
Science has proved that it is possible for an electron to exist both as a particle and as a wave and can be in two places at once (photoelectric effect). It cannot explain why this phenomenon occurs. It can only try to make sense of the amazing things that are observed in the world and it is not always correct. Many scientific theories have later been proved wrong - scientists used to think that the world was flat. Many scientific ideas are still theories and not proven at all - The Big Bang for example.
It takes just as much faith to believe that the earth came into being from nothing as it does to say that an infinite and almighty being created it.
If He can do that, why not a virgin birth? The reason it would not happen again is that God only had one Son for the purpose of dying for us. It is not a phenomenon that can be scientifically analysed by repeating the process many times. Creating the earth was a one off event and so is this. Current medical thinking on fertilisation doesn't come into it as this is atypical.

Well the biblical version is incomplete as to the actual method of conception so no medical professional could assert of deny it from a medical viewpoint.
On the possibility of virgin birth per se we just need to be a little clearer in what we mean. If a virgin is someone who has not had sexual intercourse then to say that a virgin birth is possible we would need to say that non-coital conception is possible.
Of course IVF gives plenty of examples of non-coital conception. So a virgin birth is, now, emminently possible.
Now what about way back then? We'll there is anecdotal evidence of lesbians conceiving by means of donor sperm and a turkey baster! All we really need for non-coital conception is a method of delivering live sperm other than the traditional meat-based approach. I can think of several ways (none of which are appropriate to write out in this forum!) and so we have to conclude that a virgin birth is possible.
As above, whether or not it actually happened is not a matter for medicine.

Parthenogenesis occurs among many species and seems to be a handy strategy for reproduction in extreme survival situations. Not an expert, but I believe that male and female gametes contain the requisite number(46) pairs of chromosomes. Under extreme conditions parthenogenesis can occur in mammals. Survival is rare. The offspring would obviously be female and haploid. For a male offspring to result, (Jesus was male), the female chromosomes would have to be somehow expelled from the zygote, without killing the cell.
This would suggest therefore if the biblical accounts are scientifically correct, then we should be referring to the 'virgin joseph'!?

Speaking strictly science here. Yes it is possible. Believe it or not if a man ejaculates outside of the vagina, the sperm can make it's way inside. There are actual cases documented where this occurred. So you see it is possible. It is extremely rare & almost unheard of though. This is however why pulling out is not a viable birth control option.

Its funny to me. If you dont believe in the virgin birth, why does it bother you so much if some does believe in it. If its truly impossible, those who believe arent really worth the frustration you experience because they believe in God. If it is truly possible because there is a being out there billions of times smarter than you, then you are the one who is foolish. Either way, why does God and those who believe in God threaten you so, if you truly believe He doesnt exist???
Now show me the truly scientific "proof" that there is no God.

WE DON'T TEACH THAT! Why do you think we do? We believe that the Spirit of the Lord came upon Mary as was said in the Bible. God has all power and he did not have to be present to allow Mary to become pregnant. We do believe that she was a Virgin. Why don't you get your facts straight. Your ignorance is very offensive!

virgin birth in our world isn't possible. Of course you need at least two variables to produce an outcome. But God is not of this earth. it is beyond our comprehension how some htings work. Like if a girl eats the sac that her child is born in she'll stop hemoraging. Almost 100 percent of the time. we cannot explain that. and the appendix it is still beyond us as to what it does. Just becuase we can't explain it yet doesn't mean it is impossible.

It is a popular misconception that the immaculate conception means a virgin birth it doesn't it means that mary was absolved from sin making her body suitable for hosting the body of jesus.
Below is an excerpt of the immaculate conception defination in the catholic dictionary
"The Blessed Virgin Mary was preserved from the stain of original sin in the first instant of her conception in the womb of her mother. This was a singular privilege and grace of God, granted in view of the merits of Jesus Christ. By her conception is meant not the act or part of her parents in it, nor the formation of her body, nor the conception of Christ later in her own womb; from the moment her soul was created and infused into her body, it was free from original sin and filled with sanctifying grace. Her soul was never stained by original sin, nor by the depraved emotions, passions, and weaknesses consequent on that sin, but created in a state of original sanctity, innocence, and justice."

History has taught us that. Yes it is possible. Although it hasn't happened lately. It has been reported in the 90's 80's 70"s & 60's. I have read several newspaper articles how girls have become PG after swimming. Without sexual contact. The girls in question were all still virgins. I gather you are old enough to figure out how that could happen.

I truly hope not?
I don't think anyone - (that is, anyone not indoctrinated and / or brainwashed into the belief) - can seriously believe the possibility of virgin birth (Discounting todays modern medical techniques). It's completely loopy.
Let's see how many thumbs down I get.
