Separate your bedroom in 4 different sections.Wall no1,wall no2,wall no3 and wall no4.Paint wall no1 and no3 with the same color such as dark blue and wall no2 and no4 with another color like light blue or light yellow. On the dark walls put your library or your stereo or whatever you think as most important. If your desk is on your room, put it against wall no2 or no4.Light colors will not tire your eyes while you look at them.If you like you can put an aquarium against the dark walls so that the light coming from it will give a really relaxing feeling all over the room.If your bed is wooden,on the light walls!Brown and light blue will give the feeling you are out on nature.Put a big pop art painting such as Andy Warhol's "Birth of Venus"(99x71cm) or if you like music much Andy Warhol's "Beethoven,Pink Book"(58x58cm).I hope i gave you some ideas you like.Good Luck!!

Right...I am 14 too. Anyway...If you want something cool...try DIY. If you like art try painting a theme wall. This wall must be the wall where your look is concentrated on when you usually stay in your room.Start of by choosing a theme colour. My choice would be orange. So...paint this theme wall in a shade of orange. After this, get your friends at your place, take a painting you lreally love and try reproducing it in your way. Curve the lines, change the colours and make it look original. Anyway , this wall MUST be your focus point. Try adding some original things on it: different materials, stripes, tou can even paint them but try to stop at a point! Don't make it look to..dirty... On the opposite wall, make 3 frames on the wall, and paint through them the same painting...in different shades of orange. You can even add shades of blue. Make sure the other walls are painted in neutral shades of orange. Add 2 fluffy chairs in a corner... they can be blue( the colour you used at the frames). These is my vision in your room but the main thing is to play with your imagination. Try to make a list of what you like and try to combine those ideas. Use strong colour in the places the light comes in more. Just Play!! my e-mail adress is mrs_anuka@yahoo.co.uk for further details. Try to watch BBC prime they have nice design shows...GOOD LUCK!!

How about basic white walls, with posters your might already have, and even though you might already have a good stereo system, why not get one of those 1950's retro looking radios as a conversation piece.
Also, you might find things at charity shops, things that will finish your room just as you like on a pittance!
Now on my own, I have lots of retro, from furniture to very old, far older than I am family portraits.

Always use neutral colours on the walls/ceilings. You can bring in colour with prints, accessories, curtains etc etc. If you want to change your scheme later, you don't have to redecorate but simply change your accessories.

New paint, bed comforter and curtains will dramatically change your room. I would try reds if you like that color, or if you dont like red, try blue. Good luck!
