Can you also tell me why they pray, how they pray and do you have to be a believer to become a christian.

You understand that prayer is nothing more than conversation with God, right? To a christian this should be on going.. Paul the Apostle told us to pray without ceasing. So as I go through my day I am in open communication with God. If you know how to talk to your own father then you know how to talk to God. It's not magic or ritualistic. The name christian was given to believers in Christ by the Romans. Over the years it has become the name that believers are collectively known. So yes to be a true Christian you must believe.... Jim

I pray every day. I pray in the morning because it helps me be a better person to others through out the day. I don't have any rule on how to pray. I could be lying down or standing up. I just talk without using any formal prayer. I would think you would have to be a believer to become a Christian, but I have a hard time sometimes in believing. But I have found peace in religion. I believe it has made me a better person.

Christians pray when they feel the need. Sometimes it's just a cry to God,the Trinity, the Virgin Mary or a multitude of Saints without any formality. There doesn't seem much point in becoming a Christian without being a believer, but I could be wrong.

I just read one of the answers from Assbandit. If he thinks he's a Christian, then he really ought to take a look into what Christianity means. It certainly doesn't mean making statements like that.

Yes, I'm back. I'm really perturbed by that answer. Shiva asked a reasonable question and certainly didn't deserve such an answer. It was un-Christian and abusive.

I can't answer for other Christians but I pray every morning, offering everything that I will do that day to the glory of God. I pray every night, giving thanks for the day & praying for my family & loved ones. I pray because it brings me closer to God & often I need God's help or guidance. I attend church most Sundays, but I believe that my personal Christianity is more important. However, Christians believe that group prayer can be very powerful & being part of the Christian community is important. Everything that one says & does & the example one gives can be a prayer. To be a Christian one must believe in Christ & try to follow his teachings.

How often? Depends on the "Christian" some pray several times a day... others only when they need/want something.

Some pray to deepen their walk with God, others because the want or need something. Or maybe a friend is sick or an electric bill needs paid or an unsaved love one. Others only when they eat.

How? some literally fold their hands and bow their heads. Others just speak something in bed as they fall asleep. Others get on their knees by the bedside. Some literally get in the closet.

I am pretty sure you need to believe in Christ to be a Christian... as the definition goes. Do need to believe in prayer? It helps.

I hope I answered you questions.

I try to pray without ceasing as commanded in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - it can be hard to do that though with all things happening around and about!

As a Christian I pray because I communicate with God who created me - it is a means of communication with Him! I also pray because I am commanded to!

You have to believe that Jesus bore the sins of many on the cross - He is our perfect Substitute and died the death we all deserved to die!

No idea how often, they pray because it comforts them and I would think that it is obvious that you have to believe in Christianity to become a christian

You have to believe Jesus Christ as your Savior to become a Christian. Christians pray to obtain God's answers to their prayers. There are also other types of prayers. Christians also pray and worship in spirit and in truth.
