They gloss over them as they gloss over all the horrific things commanded and perpetrated in the Bible claimed to done in the name of God or by God.
If you point out the scriptural proof they say, "oh that bit doesn't count"... well is that so?

the certainty which you %. scriptures and do choose learn the Bible motives you to believe there are inconsistencies interior the Bible. I even have studied the Bible for 25 years and have got here across in basic terms certainty in Gods word. i understand why the previous testomony is crammed with violence and the hot testomony isn't. What I even have discovered in 25 years can't be regarding you in this communicate board.

God did not write the Bible. The Bible is a (censored) collection of words of men about God. Some of those men were highly inspired, others less so. Most of these men were writing in the language of thieir time so "an eye for an eye" had appeal at one time but "turn the other cheek" was more appealing 2000 years later.
That said, what are we to make of the Bible? Are we to take it seriously at all?
I think so.
Why? Because there is definitely more to reality than meets the eye and a shepherd who spent his days on a lonely hill is more likely to have fathomed the nature of God's creation than most of us in our hectic, modern lives.

I think I know what you are trying to say with contradictions but I feel you've used the wrong example, here are three inconsistencies, that are very easy to see:
Contradiction #1
Who incited David to count the fighting men of Israel?
(a) God did (2 Samuel 24:1)
(b) Satan did (1 Chronicles 21:1).
Contradiction #2
In that count how many fighting men were found in Israel?
(a) Eight hundred thousand (2 Samuel 24:9).
(b) One million, one hundred thousand (1 Chronicles 21:5).
Contradiction #3
How many fighting men were found in Judah?
(a) Five hundred thousand (2 Samuel 24:9).
(b) Four hundred and seventy thousand (1 Chronicles 21:5).
And there are many more.

The Old Covenant is replaced by the New Covenant when Jesus died on the cross. The New Covenant is a better Covenant which brings forth God's grace and truth. Since we now have received God's grace we should gracious to others by turning the other cheek. There is no inconsistency since one replaces and improves on the other.

I hve studied the Holy Bible and Theology extesively in a University College.
Although I found some answers very good, djmantx gave you the perfect answer. All the answers that I found very good plus djmantx answers had been given three thumbs down by the time I saw them.
This just proves that people do not want to hear the Truth. They would rather disregard Jesus Christ and believe what they want to believe. In this way they can reject God, make themselves god and continue on in their sins feeling no guilt.

The knowledge you have now is different than when you were six. You can't go back and change it on paper, but you could say,"It was written." Even still, books are only learning tools and shouldn't be taken to heart, or you will be "captured in your own wisdom," or boxed in.

There are inconsistences, but there is no inconsistency in the example you mention. Christ clearly superceded the Old Testament teaching; it is Christ's teaching you should heed.

The Old Testament is the old law. The New Testament is the new law, Jesus modified Old Testament laws, it's because of Him that we need to turn the other cheek.

you shouldn't post this kind of question here because you'll get very biased answers, depending on who answers them... why don't you ask a religious person? (not necessarily a Christian...)
but anyhow, I'm not a Christian but I can say this much - The Bible has been revised many many times. New things and old things have been extracted to fit man's lifestyle.
