i was thinking even one of those stove ones with the pipes, where they may be able to just cut a small round hole in one of my walls and have the pipe run up the side of my house? Does that work? Of course it would be nice to have a full flegged fireplace and chimney made of stone or brick also. Thank you!

I'm retired now but, I could come out and cut a "full fledged fire place" in you house with an insert and a blower. It would look very nice and, look like a real fireplace if you'd want it to.
It would cost you I don't think you'd recoup the price on the resale. That's the hard part. Some people think there "cool' when I remodel I tell them they won't get their money back, I try to be honest. I don't know what they are today, someone else can answer that.

Dear Texas, I can guess that you have a one story house. If so, you can have a direct vent fireplace with the pipes going through the wall, or a fireplace with pipe sections that go to the roof and out. Then the size of the firebox is a issue too.. the bigger the more bucks you spend. There is the effort to install the box and build around it and a hearth and if you have to hire someone or you can do it yourself. About 2,000.00 will get you into a no frills fireplace. The decision and what you want are up to you. Many fireplace centers can give you a lot of advice and maybe install it for you too... Good Luck
