Most pagans do. Those who don't adhere to many gods, usually look upon Nature or the Universe as inherently Divine, ending up with something that looks a lot like the Force that Yoda told us so much about. Some take on a mixture of both.

Pagan has traditionally referred to a member of any non-Abrahamic, monotheistic faith. In recent times, particularly in the US, it has referred to adherents of the resurgence of tribal mythologies and expressions of belief.

A pagan originally meant "country-dweller" since rustics were more likely to worship a Nature god who would ensure the health and success of their livestock, crops, etc. Today, "Pagan" has come to mean(A) someone with no religious beliefs(B) anyone who is not a jew, christian or muslim,or (c) A person who believes in an earth-centered religion,(probably who you're referring to), "pagan" is an umbrella term that we use to describe a person whose religion is pantheistic,(believing in many gods)and animistic(believing that all things are alive and all things have souls.) Witches who don't agree with the tenets of wicca generally refer to themselves as pagan. Can't do much better than that as it is a very broad term.

I added a link to wikipedia on this topic, but I believe a short answer is, a pagan is a person who's religious beliefs are not those that a society accpets as "normal". Which in the US is basically anything other than the judeo-chistian-Islamic beliefs.

yes they believe in many Gods or Idols! Neopagans do not believe in, respect, or worship any divine or semidivine figure of ultimate Evil, leaving such concepts to the dualistic monotheists. “The Devil” is a character in Christian and Islamic mythology, a blasphemous parody of ancient Paleopagan deities, and an entity we have not the least bit of interest in. Those who insist that our beloved deities are “really demons in disguise,” are simply exhibiting their ignorance, their dualism, and their bigotry, as their predecessors have been doing for centuries. Thus our community says to both the conservative Christian community and its shadow side, the modern Satanist movement, One cannot be a Satanist and a Neopagan at the same time, though it is, perhaps, possible to be a Satanist and a Mesopagan simultaneously.
