the name of the holes through which the plants breathe is called stomata. these r located in the lower part of the leaf. this stomata is for 2 reasons 1) for respiration 2) for transpiration. plants take in CO2 and give out water for synthesizing food. tranpiration is an important function for plants as it s used for bringing the water from roots to leaves.the water present initially in the plant is realeased into the atmosphere. this causes a upward force in opposite to the gravatational force and pulls up the water. during this the plant loses 98-99 % of water and uses the left out water.
