Ok I think I understand this question.

The way God (p.s I am Christian) wants us to think... Romans 12:1-2, Phil 4:8 - (try Phil 4:8 yourself and see how hard it is)... is difficult because it is not our natrual way of thinking, due to being born out of relationship with God. So yes many people will not quite make it every time, However 2 Peter 1 says that we can.

It is progressive and we really need to bury ourselves in God's word to be consistant with the things we think, say and do.

If we have our feet in both camps it is harder to be consistant, and doing it without God is virtually impossible.

(Sorry I can't objectify it. This is my life, I hope this gives you a bit of an understanding of why some well meaning Christians don't always get it right - including me)

These difficulties arise from the law of cause & effect or Karma. "Karma, action, any action-physical,verbal or mental. Destiny, which is caused by past actions, mainly those of previous lives." "Karma Yoga. The yoga of action. A spiritual path expounded by Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita in which one performs actions as an offering to God,while remaining detached from the fruit of those actions." From "mukteshwari" by Swami Muktananda. To overcome or transcend the "world" one needs the baptism with spirit from a saint . there are many on earth now. See syda.org/theguru Swami chidvilasananda (gurumayi) is one such saint. Www.geocities.com/mihirig/siddhayoga.htm & www.stephen-knapp.com/articles_to_read.htm

There are those who take things to the exreme and maybe "get" their own revelations that don't line up with practical faith as outlined. I guess I mean it's being a zealot without the wisdom and maturity of a life lived in this world.

Being imperfect by virtue of being born ignorant and having to learn by going through life dealing with, and taking instruction and advice from, other people who are also imperfect by virtue of being born ignorant and who also have had to learn on-the-go so to speak.
Overcoming is difficult because you must learn when to be merciful, lenient, forgiving, charitable, and etc. even when it looks foolish to do so, even when it is obvious you're being taken for a sucker, even when it hurts.

One of the goals of following Jesus is to think like him. It takes time, prayer,Bible study, and growth to "have the mind of christ." Our actions are a result of our thoughts.
