Yes,absolutely true. I'm Italian and at my times in the primary school we have been taught the ancient Latin. For me it has been very helpful (even if we cannot consider Latin a real language being no longer spoken) but this has allowed me to learn many other languages. I'm fluently speaking English, Spanish (Castellano castizo!!) and French. I can't speak fluently but I know a bit of German and Dutch (Vlamaans) while I understand the 60/70% of these 2 last languages.
If you speak Norwegian you can rather easily learn German since the construction is fairly similar; also the fact you're speaking Spanish (a Latin origin language) will help you being the construction of German language also very similar to the ancient Latin. After then you'll love to learn Italian....!!!

i think it is, the first language i decided to learn(spanish) after my native english took some time, but then i took french, german, and have started polish, and it's been a lot easier. i think when you are older that it's harder at first to learn new languages than if you are young, but once your brain gets tuned into a new language, it picks it up easier. so keep trying cause german is actually a great language!

I guess so. Some Europeans can speak 3 or 4 languages.
I once knew a woman from Iceland and she could speak 5 languages.

yeah, because most languages have roots in other languages. for instance, spanish and english have roots in latin. if you want to learn a language really quickly, i would reccommend the computer program called rosetta stone. its an immersion program that really is excellent.
