I'm sure there are some very intelligent people out there who are also Christian. The only problem is that in order to believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible, you have to deny a lot of established scientific fact and accept a lot of things of which there is no hard evidence. I'm not sure that has anything to do with intelligence, but it's usually not a very good thing to do anyway.

Edit: Ummm, just to note... someone down there gave a list of a bunch of famous people whom she claimed were all "religious people" -- actually, half of those people weren't religious at all. Washington and Jefferson were Deists. Lincoln rejected the Bible from an early age and was probably also Deist. Einstein believed in a god of nature, not a personal god like the one described in the Bible. Helen Keller was apparently very critical of some of the stuff in the Bible. And some quick research on Churchill says that he was more of an "optimistic agnostic" instead of a Christian. So just wanted to set the record straight.

I cannot agree with your statement. Many great minds have considered themselves spiritual, even if they did not belong or believe in structured religion.I am sure a study could be done that would "prove" atheists to have lower intelligence .Collective statements and statistics came be projected in a way to prove almost anything. What I do think is stupid, is to base your beliefs on one short flash card video. Put together by someone whose agenda is not known.I certainly do not consider myself smarter because I do not believe in the literal interpretation of the bible, or belong to any structured religion.Nor do I consider myself dumb in continuing to search for answers to increase my own spirituality .

shakes head... you've wasted various of skill attacking a straw guy. Christianity does not say that money is the inspiration of all evil. It would not even say that the affection of funds is the inspiration of all evil. the most perfect translation is: the affection of funds is the inspiration of all sorts of evil. observe that this nowhere skill that the affection of funds is the absolutely source of evil. rather, the textual content teaches that the affection of funds supplies start to a bunch of evils. I doubt even you may disagree with that. next time do rather analyze earlier taking place a rant. it's going to forestall some embarrassment.

I'm an Atheist incase you don't know, and I think you should refrain from insulting other people. It doesn't get anybody anywhere most of the time. The few times it does it makes a negative impact. Please stop making the rest of us look bad.
Your last argument was pathetic. You are insulting PEOPLE here through a strawman link to religion.

You know what, actually it doesn't, I don't care if other people think I am dumb, although on secon thoughts, I am considered to be quite intelligent, I am studying to be a dentist, and I am the topper of my class, so although I am profoundly religious, and wear my religion on my sleeve (I wear an OM pendant around my neck)., I am actually considered quite smart, both by my batchmates and by my teachers.

I'm a Christian, which I will admit, hasn't always made all my college instructors very happy--particularly my psychology professor. Nevertheless, I still earned the highest grade in his class, as well as all my other classes, and graduated with high honors.
Whatever you may want to call people who believe in God, calling us dumb without knowing anything about us is...well, dumb.

Yes, we are dumb like you and the rest of all mankind.
As long as we pride ourselves against the teachings of the Messengers of God, we cannot become anything better.
What is your proof about matter before Big Bang? What is your proof about dark matter and dark energy? What is your proof about the civilization on earth in the next millenium?
