It is seeing beyond your own world, to the world of others who may be in need of your help. It is the unselfish act of giving without asking for anything in return. The importance of being generous is like the ripple in a pond, when you have thrown in a stone...it will be played forward to others and make the world better for all.

Quote: “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.” ~ Albert Pike
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” ~ Winston Churchill
“Generosity is not giving me that which I need more than you do, but it is giving me that which you need more than I do.” ~Kahlil Gibran

All living things require power, or, energy, to survive. The more primitive that a lifeform is, the less generous it tends to be. It cannot afford to give power away to others. But, the more developed that a lifeform is, the more generous it can be. Higher developed lifeforms and societies have basic power or energy needs met and have learned skills that make it easier to generate more power more easily. Lower lifeforms among humans believe that personal gain and greed is Nature's plan for survival of the fittest. And, it is, for lower lifeforms. Higher lifeforms of humans believe that to empower others makes us all stronger and healthier. Generosity and helping to empower others is Nature's true way. Research in the Netherlands learned that the feeling and associated brainwave that humans emit that matches the average, or, mean frequency of the Universe is "COMPASSION". Also, only those species and societies that support and unite and empower each other generously ascend to health and balance. Humans rose about Nature's basal or basic demands of "survival of the fittest" and "every beast for itself" long ago by coming together to fight sabre-tooth tigers and other monster predators that were eating humans. We banded together and became more than the beasts because we formed a social contract of generosity and mutual survival. But, there are many lower lifeforms walking on two legs among us these days.
