I have been going through the same thing right now. I have done a lot of research and it is something that is really hard to prove. Also there are 5 or 6 books that aren't in there and it makes me wonder who decided which books belong in the Bible and which don't. Also have you noticed that other religions are just a loyal and believe just as strongly in their religions or "bibles" laws. It's a strange thing. Sometimes it makes me wonder if I always believed just because I was born here and my parents do .... I'm interested to see the answers you get though.

That's the thing. The Bible is written by men with their personal representations and beliefs, dictating their own sense of right and wrong, how mankind should act, etc., and they emulate this one man who was so good of heart and a great leader and influential speaker to be Jesus. I believe there was such a man and that he had special gifts. He had to have them in order to have so many follow him and trust his word. The Bible is also a contradiction. For instance, an eye for an eye -- then turn the other cheek. People get the own perceptions and form the words given in the Bible to suit their needs. Did you know that Jesus is described as having skin of bronze and hair of wool in the Bible but he is falsely portrayed by Christians and others as having blonde hair and blue eyes in order to appeal more to the masses. Even the highest religious icons have not changed the false image to the true one. That's why the writings and teachings of the Bible should be taken with a sense of caution in relation to real life.

It is good that you want proof. The Apostle Paul wrote, "Prove [or test] all things; hold fast that which is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

Ask yourself what would prove it to you. For instance, if a fulfilled prophecy is sufficient proof, study the prophecies and look for their fulfillment in history. (With such a large task, it may be best to find someone else's work, and just check to see if they did their job well.)

Jesus said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)

Be sure to ask God first, not only for proof, but also for his holy spirit and "eyes to see" (Luke 11:13, Revelation 3:18), because the truth is veiled (2 Corinthians 3:14-16).

You pick up a book and it says it is the truth therefore it must be true right ? WRONG!
Many people have gone through what you are going through now- searching for the truth,

Read about other peolpe's quests for the truth.
See the accounts on the bottom of this website page. Jim'Lee's story is particularly interesting.
