well, i'm kind of a perfectionist when it comes to things like this...i make sure know my material, and have all my note cards in order. then, about a 1/2 - an hour beforehand i start doing deep breathing and stretching...it really works. practice your speech while looking in a mirror so you can see your facial expressions...practice reciting it to friends/family and get their feedback. while you're giving your speech, focus on ppl in the audience you know, and look at them from time-to-time. if you don't have to stand at a podium, move around a bit as you give your speech. try not to say "um" a lot...it makes it sound as if you don't know your material. try to smile at specific points in your speech material...if it's appropriate. that will make you look comfortable to your audience. i'm sure you will do a great job!! best of luck.

It is normal and OK to be nervous before a speech at 14. Although it makes you unhappy. Read the webpage below which will help make you more relaxed and happier.
Ultimately when you are super-relaxed and never get nervous, you will be extremely happy. It is called being in the moment. For now just focus and concentrate on something like a chess game or understanding the webpage below. Actually first take 5 minutes to read this advice for teenage girls.
It has buttons to change the color of the background. Then click on Rx for Happiness which will make you more self-confident. Here is a quote by poet, Kahlil Gibran. "You have a cup a joy inside you. But you cannot drink it save (unless) you forget the past and renounce (give up or resign) the future."
Have fun!

*shrugs* I tell myself it's not the end of the world. Life goes on... in fact, the rest of that day goes on whether you do poorly or not. BREATHE deeply, and rehearse several times. Then, do it when you brush your teeth, shower, etc. Seriously, you're going to be making speeches throughout your life! It's really no big deal. Just have a "get it over with" mentality, and there you go. The more you practice, the less anxiety you feel when you're up there.

it's good to be nervous, that means you care about what you are saying!
Just try to rehearse the speech a couple of times so you're more prepared.
While you're waiting - do some deep breathing! It really helps!
Good luck

practise, practise, practise. Yes, you will be nervous but the more you practise, the less likely you will make mistakes.
