Because of society, the media, socialization from parents and the nature of men and women, that men are the pursuers in relationships. The men are the (dominant species) the ones that ask the women on the date, the ones that initiate the romance, and the ones that also propose marriage. Now, women do this too but because of tradition, society and the way we are socialized it is more accepted for men to be the pursuers than the women. Women want to feel that they are beautiful and want to be pursued by men because it reiterates the fact. AND the men buy the flowers and the candy and open doors to reiterate that feeling, as well it is a macho thing. You don't see women fussing over men like that, and even if they did the men would pretend not to like it no matter if they did or not. It is as - David Suzuki says - 'the nature of things'.

While you can go down the route of pick-up lines such as "If I said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me?", this may not necessarily do it.
The only way to actually make pick up lines work and woo a woman is to first communicate to her. Find something to like about her and find something that you both have agreement on. For example, if she likes a particular movie and you also like that movie, then talk about that movie. As you find more and more things that you have in common, you'll notice that she'll like you a little bit more.
At the same time, don't fall in to the trap of saying you like stuff that you don't like. It doesn't work.
Get the girl laughing, smiling and then looking at you with her bedroom eyes, then lay on the roses, the dinners, etc. Eventually, you'll have enough confidence and that will show. Confidence breeds success.

Yes women do love men who are romantic but not all the time. Women don't like a guy who is mushy all the time, it'll get old real quick. Women, even though they don't admit it, likes it when a man plays hard to get sometimes (like in the beginning of the relationship) and they like a little bit of a rough neck. Being a virgin has nothing to do with being romantic, you can be as romantic as you want to be without having to have sex.

You don't have to be really romantic in order to date a woman.
Be funny
Act sexy
Look smart
Your sense of humour is what you really need not your virginity.

Be sweet. The whole "bad boy" thing is cool, but a truely sweet gentleman is always refreshing, and never goes unoticed.
