First, get your shift key fixed, would you submit an email to your boss that was formatted like your question?

OK, A complete set consists of 14 clubs (no more). The set is made up of a combination of:

Woods (including the Driver and Fairway Woods)
Hybrid or Utility Club
Irons
Wedges
Putter

Here's a typical set:
Driver
3 Wood
5 Wood

Hybrid or Utility Club

3,4,5,6,7,8,9 Irons
Pitching, Approach, Sand Wedges
Putter

The set will also include a golf bag to carry your clubs, balls and accessories.

Since you'll be with the boss, you'll want to remember all of the accessories that are actually necessities on the course:

Balls (buy at least a dozen, if you are just starting, try Noodles)
Tees (2 3/4" for most drivers, don't buy the shorter ones)
A ball marker
Greens mender
Golf towels
Golf golf
Golf shoes

Don't wear jeans or cut-offs. Dockers are nice. Also a "golf shirt" is nice, not a t-shirt.

Before you go, you should get at least one lesson, or it will be a very long day for you and your boss.

Take more money than you think you will need for extras like drinks, tips, bets, etc.

Have fun!

You can carry 14 clubs as a maximum. That is a complete set.

Skill Level should Determine the Clubs You Carry
Which clubs should you be carrying your bag probably depends on how good a golfer you are.
The needs of a low-handicapper are quite different from those of a beginning golfer. Some clubs are easy to control for all players, some should only be used by highly skilled players.

Plus, the Rules of Golf allow you to carry a maximum of 14 clubs in your bag.

Which clubs should you be carrying? I've got some suggestions. Keep in mind, these are generalities - if there is a particular club that you hit very well but is not listed below, keep it in your bag. Results are what matter.

Usually a sports store will sell you a complete set together. They even have golf bags with a complete set in it. If you want a cheap set, you can try target. But the sets of course vary. You usually have a driver, 3 wood and five wood. sometimes you have a seven wood. then you have irons 3-9 depending if you have the seven wood or not. If you have a seven wood, then your irons start at 4. Then you have a pitching wedge, sand wedge & a putter. That's a complete set. And don't forget to get some golf balls too!

Hello SM

I wouldnt worry about buying a set of clubs as it appears you have never played. If you are actually going to play a round with your boss you should first tell him/her that you have never played befor.

Now you can save some $$ buy simply renting a set of clubs at the course you will play on, they will have what you need allready in a bag.

If you find that you like the game then you may want to go out and purchase a starter set of clubs.

Good luck with your round but be prepared for a little frustration, have fun and enjoy the great sceenery of the golf course.

The Fisher Price set is on sale at Walmart and Target this Monday through Friday. I have two of their sets, and so far I haven't run into any big problems. I like the feature of their light weight golf bag. I find I have a lot more energy after playing a round than when using conventional clubs.

You should have a combination of woods and Irons, also a putter. 1,3 5 wood plus 3456789 plus sand wedge is an ideal combination.
