Whenever atheists make arguments against Christians, one will likely cite the Crusades, Inquisition, you know the rest. But many atheists claim that atheism is completely peaceful, but there are many examples of atheism inspired violence, like Columbine, or the Roman-Christian persecution and stake burnings. So how come nobody ever brings this up? I'm looking for a non-biased answer. Thank you.

I as an atheist agree with you 100%. You have spoken the truth. Yet another truth is there have been just as many atrocities committed by Christians as you mentioned above. Still yet, what of those of the Muslim faith. Everywhere you look there are crimes against humanity. I suppose I might borrow a saying I've heard from Christians and say "this is the way of the world" but this does not explain the atheists view does it? So, what I'm trying to say is we are all guilty of these things. I myself have never claimed to be any better than anyone else, I know I'm not perfect. But, I am not burdened with religious guilt over these matters because I accept it for what it is, human nature. Yes, human nature. A naturally evolved state that is not perfect nor will it ever be perfect. Also I am not constrained in my life because of fear of hell. I live a quite, moral life that many Christians should emulate. In fact I'm often asked where do I go to church. Ha Ha. But I do know and realize the state of humanity, and for the most part it's sad. If Christians didn't want things they have done brought up they should stop doing the things people (in all there glorious human nature) like to talk about. ie. Ted Haggard

This is just a lie from the Christian camp to say that Columbine was in some way related to Atheism. Last time I checked they tried saying the trench coat mafia were Wiccans and Pagans. Is now the new focus to say they were Atheists?
What roman-christian persecutions and stake burnings? You seem to be making stuff up as you go.

Columbine? Can you site a reference to the atheistic kids in black and white? Seems to me violent videogames and being different is what caused Columbine. If there are examples of atheist violence, I'm sure it was in retaliation to sectarian violence. And since when were the Romans godless? You really can't say that they were atheists, simply because they didn't believe in the christian god. There are dozens of Roman gods. I think you need to do a bit more research.

A bus bring about Bootle could have been vandalised the different day, yet i don't think it substitute into the anti-public transport brigade who have been to blame. There are feral youths in Lancashire, very like everywhere else yet you could not turn that into an 'all atheists sell violence' argument! besides, the place substitute into the violence? actually vandalism, even nonetheless abhorrent, isn't technically violence?

Columbine was a confused maybe even psychotic child how is that attributed to atheism he was most likely brought up in your faith ! I heard his lying father looking for recompense to sooth his conscience.survival of the fittest to a psycho...The roman persecutions were pagan polytheists not atheists. have you anything truthful to contribute ...?I'm more objective than you probably like? red china was atheistic but not the brand of disbeliever you'll find at this site and was it culture or politics .
keep trying my friend ;it's really of little real consequence....

I don't know enough about the Columbine thing as I am from Australia.
The Romans were not atheist - they had many gods.
Your tone is mean - calm down - there is room in this world for both of us.

I concur with many of the sensible answers above. I don't know the religious leanings of the Columbine shooting psychos so I won't comment on that but, as another starter for you, what religion was Mark Chapman, who murdered John Lennon after hearing voices in his head ... Born Again Christian.
Now, voices in the head are nothing more than one's personal thoughts. I just heard a voice in my head .. it said "go make coffee". Now was that the devil misleading me? I don't think so!

Violence isn't a problem with religion - it's a problem with humanity in general. While religion does offer a convenient excuse for violence, even a world entirely comprised of atheists would find reasons to beat the snot out of each other.

Columbine? how Is Atheism to blame for Christians shooting their fellow students?
and wouldnt the... romans / catholics be to blame for there troubles?
meh. atheism has its violence, the rise of the PRC had it's fair share of "atheist inspiration", although it was largley communism inspired.
in any event as an atheist, i'd slap anyone who said we were completely peaceful, just to prove them wrong. ;)

I would support the Crusades because it kept the Muslims from conquering Europe, as they started it (meaning the Muslims) had the Crusades not taken place, all of Europe would be under Islam.
As for the Inquisition, that was wrong, many professing Christians think they are doing the will of God but are only doing so for their own interest to stay in power.
