You are probably thinking of the character known as the "Wandering Jew". He taunted Jesus on the way to the crucifixion and was cursed to walk the Earth until the second coming. His exact name is lost, but has been cited as Ahasuerus, Matathias, Buttadeus, Cartophilus, Isaac Laquedem, and Juan Espera a Dios.

The Roman Soldier most associated with the crucifixion is Longinus, who pierced Jesus with his spear. For some inexplicable reason the Catholics sainted him and have statues of him in the Vatican. (link 2)

Hi there,

It actually wasn't a Roman guard, John 18:22 tells us it was an officer appointed to the high priest. They hadn't taken Jesus to the Roman authorities yet.

I'm sure Jesus forgave him if he asked for forgiveness.

There is a movie called "The Seventh Sign". Watch it...it's about the Second Coming of Christ.

Cartaphilus is his name. He was sentenced to walk the earth until the Second Coming of Christ.

There aren't any references to him in the Bible.

Anyone who doesn't except Jesus as God's son slaps Jesus in the face. The roman solider was not named but he was to walk this earth til the second coming of Christ but do we realize Christ is with us everyday. That his death gave us this luxury of having his spirit in our heart, sometimes I wonder if the second coming means when we fully let Christ work in our life and let the Holy Spirit take over. That was a great question.I have no answer
